tenacious D music task 2

Analysing of music video

band: Tenacious D

Song: Tribute

Genre:  Comedy Rock

This song is from a soundtrack for the film Pick of Density

Tribute is the first single from Tenacious D self titled debut album on July 6th 2002. The music video was directed and edited by Liam Lynch. The band is made of Jack Black and Kyle Gass. The bands genre that they mostly perform in is hard rock or comedy rock. The recorded at The boat in silver lake in Los Angeles.
The music video starts of when Jack Black and Kyle Gass at an American mall talking about recording their own music. Jack Black talks Kyle Gass into recording at a 'studio' in this mall which we find out is just a normal kakaroke studio. Due to the start of this video and the end I would say it's narravite works in with the performance that is mostly in this video cause what they are singing about is being played out by them in flash back scenes and cut always. The comedy comes through when you listen to the lyrics also the conversation between the artists at the start. I think if this video wasn't performance and narrative based then it wouldn't work as well with the band because when though it's taken as a normal music video there is also a sense of comdey within how they have pushed in these two grown men in a small studio room and have the cut backs to them in this room to see their reactions to what they are singing about and the power behind the lyrics. Also after the recording when they leave the studio, because of how open it is it does give them freedom after singing the song it self.
